On 6 December, the NORMAN Biodiversity Workshop in cooperation with RobustNature took place at Goethe University and was chaired by Jan Koschorreck (Federal Environment Agency) and Henner Hollert (Goethe University and Frauenhofer IME). In a productive workshop with over 80 participants, the link between chemical pollution and biodiversity loss and the importance of the new role of chemical pollution within the theoretical concept of planetary boundaries were discussed. There was also an exchange on ways to combine existing expertise on chemical pollution and biodiversity and the merging of existing databases in both areas. We had excellent presentations and panel discussions on the regulatory background, analytical methods and assessment approaches for pollution and biodiversity.
